They begin to grow closer to one another, opening up about each of their struggles. They also learn that their song « Determinate » is being played on the local radio.

Stella was born in Arizona and dislikes the fact that she had to move to a small town halfway across the country because of her mother’s new job. She is headstrong and leads the band when the other members are uncertain. Though rebellious, Stella is a hard worker, and caring to her friends.

Charlie struggles with the fact that he is alive instead of his stillborn twin brother Aaron. He is more than willing to stick up for himself and his friends. Charlie is misunderstood by his peers and is in love with Mo. Like Wen with Olivia, Charlie is able to calm Mo down whenever she is worried. At the end of the book, he starts dating Mo and finally lets go of Aaron. Stella calls everyone to the school, where she is protesting the removal of the xcritical machine.

I didn’t expect to enjoy the songs as much as I did.She’s So Gone, sung by Naomi Scott, was probably my favourite song in the whole movie her vocals are incredible. On April 6, 2012, Chris Brochu announced on his Twitter account, that the sequel was no longer going into production. At Rising Star, Olivia and Mo’s respective injuries begin to resurface during their performance. Olivia begins to have another panic attack, and Stella tries to comfort her to no avail. Dejected, the band is about to exit the stage when the audience began to sing their song to support them.

The story celebrates a variety of family structures and includes some touching moments between parents and teens. The squeaky-clean content isn’t worrisome, although some young kids may need reassurance when discussions turn to the death of a character’s parent or other scenarios that may ring true with them. But all in all, this is an inspiring tale of friendship and passion that will give your family plenty to talk about when it’s over.
